Terry Madden
In Terry's own words:
My fascination for the film camera started way back when I was eight, or nine years of age. Living in central London I use to stand for hours on the street watching films being made. I was hooked and decided this was my calling.
I left school at 16 and got a job with a small film company in London, making tea and delivering cans of films. Working for five years to gain my union ticket.
Now with a union card my first official job was on a TV series ‘Black Beauty’, as a 3rd Assistant Director and from there I did ‘The Hiding Place’, ‘Alfie Darling’, Disney’s ‘Pit Ponies’ and ‘The Ritz’. My big break was receiving a call from Tony Way, who was a very well established 1 st Assistant Director. He offered me a job on a sc-fi film being made at Elstree Studios, called ‘Star Wars’.
With Tony I did Fred Zinnemann’s two last films, ‘Julia’ and ‘Five Days One Summer’. I worked with Tony and other 1 st Assistants on, ‘Superman II’, ‘The Four Feathers’, ‘Dogs of War’, ‘Clash of the Titans’ and Disney’s ‘‘Spaceman and King Arthur’.
My first Bond film was in 1980 on ‘For Your Eyes Only’. I went onto work on them all, up until ‘Spectre’ in 2015, total of thirteen Bonds. As a 1 st Assistant Director -2 nd unit, I worked on some of the biggest and iconic Bond action sequences.
As a 2nd unit AD I also did ‘Tomb Raider’, ‘Troy’, ‘X-Men’, ‘Avengers’, ‘Edge of Tomorrow’, ‘World War Z’, ‘The Mummy’, the list goes on.
