In loving memory of our dear friend Ted (Merc Sunlet) Western

Ted Western
Ted Western was well known in the 1970's and 1980's for his work behind the camera more than in front, as a freelance Propman/Propmaster.
Ted is a remarkable veteran of the British film and television industry, and his career has been long, varied and incredibly productive. You won't find much information on the web about Ted as propmen are seldom credited, but has worked on some of the finest productions in film and TV history such as Superman I and II, Diamonds are Forever, The Spy Who Loved Me, Moonraker, Never Say never Again, Willow, Legend, The Lady Vanishes, and many, many more.
However he gained some notoriety when it came to light that his work as a propman on Star Wars also led to him being involved in two scenes as a character himself. Having been ordered into a costume for the cantina scene by George Lucas, you can see him appearing with Alec Guinness and Marc Hamill as the character now named Merc Sunlet. He now has his own trading card! He also ended up in the Massassi Temple in uniform on the presentation dais. He did pop into costume at other times in a variety of other film productions too.
His television work includes The Persuaders, The Professionals, The Sweeney, Auf Weidersehen Pet to name just a few which makes Ted a fascinating convention/signing guest.
