Matthew Hobbs
Matthew Hobbs has been involved in the film/TV and entertainment industry for many years.
He spent his formative years in the rural villages of Wiltshire until moving to London, where his acting career took off.
Whilst there, an opportunity arose for him to travel to Iceland and perform as a Viking Warrior at a festival. He returned there in this role for a further four years. One of his tutors is Hall of Famer, Andreas Petrides.
Playing the role of Viking soon became a major part of his life and he has travelled to fifteen countries worldwide to perform. The fascination with the Viking way started his hobby of making wooden Viking toys which he now sells all over the world. While playing a Spanish soldier fighting Zombies in a swamp in "Pirates of the Caribbean 4" Johnny Depp was kind enough to autograph some of these and also accepted some for his children.
In 2007 he took part in the world tour of rock band "Manowar" as a stage performer. The moves for the 50 minute performances had to be mastered in two days! On the opening gig Matthew found himself next to the lead singer, surrounded by fire, in front of a 10,000 strong crowd. He is credited on the album cover "Gods of War" and appears in the group photo.
In the same year he was credited for stunt work in the movie "Dark is Rising", filmed in Romania. He then appeared with another rock band, "Amon Amarth" from Sweden, sword fighting on stage at "Underworld" in Camden.
Deciding to sign with an agency led him to appear in some real blockbuster movies including the "Pirates of the Caribbean" series, Harry Potter, Wrath of the Titans and many more including the 2015 "Star Wars, The Force Awakens". He can clearly be seen as a resistance fighter in the rebel bunker with Princess Leia (screen left as you look at it). This scene also appears in Disney's book about the film, "The Force Awakens".
In the last of the Harry Potter movies, "Deathly Hallows 2", Matthew will be the last person you see in the film with over 6 million hits on You Tube.
Another facet of Matthews career is his photographic modelling. In 2014 his image was used on a giant banner and posters to promote the Danish National Museum in Copenhagen. He also appears on all three covers of the best selling fantasy trilogy by Anthony Ryan, "Raven's Shadow" series. The individual books were: "Blood Song" (2013), "Tower Lord" (2014) and "Queen of Fire" (2015). He now fulfils requests to sign book covers and photos both as the main character, Vaelin Al Sorna, and as himself.
He has currently been invited to take part in a documentary about his life. In the meantime he manages a 15 acre forest that he hires out for film location and other events.
