
Katie Purvis
Katie Purvis is the actress who will be best remembered for her role as the "Maternal Ewok" in ' Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi'. Coming from a Theatrical background, her late father being the Star Wars actor Jack Purvis . Katie was destined to have a future in showbusiness when she visited a film set that her father happened to be working on! There, Katie began her career on the big screen at the tender age of 14 in 1981 when she was asked by Director Terry Gilliam to double in a stunt in the film 'Time Bandits' along with her Dad, for the late actor Tiny Ross, who played Vermin in the Movie
The film featured other Star Wars actors such as Mike Edmonds,and Malcolm Dixon and Katie's fathers friend and Business partner Kenny Baker. Katie became a part of the Star Wars saga in 1982, with her small but iconic role in ' Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi ', where she played the Maternal Ewok, cradling a wokling whilst C3PO holds court in their hut.
A couple of years later, Katie was called again to act as a Goblin in Ridley Scott's ' Legend ' and then at 18 she was successfully double cast as the Goblin Painswick in the Goblin Corps and Madame Zuzitskie in Jim Henson's film starring the legendary David Bowie ' Labyrinth ' !!
Katie was lucky enough to then be cast on Ron Howard and George Lucas's acclaimed film 'Willow' as one of the Newlyns (alongside her father) in 1988.
During this time Katie was cast in TV roles which included the TV version of ' Chronicles of Narnia ' (2004), and you could see her as a cashier in a 2003 episode of Channel 4 TV series ' Teachers '. Katie also appeared alongside her Dad, and Kenny on the comedy show 'Little and Large' playing a groupie to her their skit of the pop stars 'Bros'
She also experienced the smell of the greasepaint where she appeared in Around 10 or 11 theatre productions of Snow White Pantomime over that period.
In early 2000 She worked on Tim Burton's Sleepy Hollow where she was a stand-in for Killians son, Killian being played by esteemed actor Steven Waddington during the Headless Horsemans (Ray Park) attack on his house.
Katie worked on both ' Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone ' (2001) and 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows ' (2010) appearing as a Gringotts Goblin .
Katie was also a carol singing witch in the Hogsmeade Choir in ' Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban ' (2004) and in ' Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire ' (2005) she was lucky enough to secure two roles as opposing supporters of the Quidditch World Cup games . ' ' Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows ' (2010) appearing as a Gringotts Goblin .
Katie feels very privileged that both her Father and her, have played a part in movie history and just hopes that one day her children can carry on the legacy by maybe securing future roles in the continuing Star Wars Saga episodes VII, VIII, IX !!!! "
